Projects
The project aims are: 1) to identify the essential specific characteristics of the cultural heritage on the territory, which are alive and safeguard to our day, such as: local traditions, customs, cuisine, legends and rituals, performing arts and skills related to traditional crafts; 2) to analyze good international practices ,concerning protection of ICH and 3) to suggest innovative and adequate forms for protection, preservation and promotion of ICH.
The research revealed that the ICH on the territory of the municipality of Lom is mainly associated with the development of commercial activity in the middle of the 19th century and is based on intensive contacts with traders from Danube countries and middle Europe. The city became the front door of Bulgaria for European culture at that time and so a cultural elite emerged and developed which impacts could be recognized today.
Innovative suggestions for promotion of the rich existing archive, safeguarded in the local cultural institutions are presented. The results of the project could be used to implement the Strategy Community-led local development of the Municipality of Lom.
