Objectives

The project partners of EURESP+ will support SMEs to improve their environmental performance. At the same time they will support and co-ordinate the environmental services sector in order to encourage growth and increase uptake of these services in each region of the participating countries. The objectives of the project are related to ensuring sustainable growth, integrating the political agenda of the Lisbon Treaty. Yet at the same time conserving the necessary business network, supporting the creation of new employment and opportunities in “green” business including products and services with the SMEs and the environment.

Under the project the project partners will offer consultancy, training and workshops for SMEs in the following sectors:
  • Metal production and treatment **
  • Mineral industry
  • Surface treatment **
  • Electric and electronic components **
  • Textile industry **
  • Chemical industry **
  • Paper industry
** Selected sectors in Bulgaria.

The project EURESP+ is a continuation of the project EURESP but will increase the number of participating regions from five to seven, the number of sectors covered from three to seven and the number of environmental services offered and delivered to twelve.

The EURESP+ consortium aims to fulfil several objectives, all of which are directly related to ensuring sustainable growth, integrating the political agenda of the Lisbon Treaty. Yet at the same time conserving the necessary business network, supporting the creation of new employment and opportunities in "green" business including products and services with the SMEs and the environment.

The Project Proposal of EURESP+ has two (2) overall principle direct objectives. The first fundamental objective is to support the region's SMEs to improve their environmental performance. EURESP+ will provide a range of one to one environmental services to support SMEs and help them to reduce their environmental impact whiles turning environmental challenges into economic opportunities.

The second central objective is to support and co-ordinate the environmental services sector in order to encourage growth and increase uptake of these services in each region of the participant countries.

Other indirect, yet significant, objectives of the EURESP+ project include the following:
  • Consolidate and develop an environmental market of products and services available to SMEs.
  • Create new opportunities to formulate Research and Development policies.
  • Increase and improve employment in the SME sector, whilst strengthening links to the environmental market and improving accessibility of consulting services.
  • Provide services that will allow the economy in general to benefit from highly specialised environmental service providers.
  • Invest in sustainable development based on standards dominated by conservation and innovation.
  • Provide tailor-made solutions for different groups in order to enhance competitiveness.
  • Enhance the profitability and sustainability of SMEs.
